Would bronze toggles be better than stainless steel?

Can I reuse 'previously owned' bronze parts with confidence?

It depends on age, use, climate, original quality, relative strength, etc.

Does bronze more easily show failings than SS?

No

How does one check older bronze fittings?

With a microscope and a calendar.

I plan on reusing my bronze turnbuckles as they still run smoothly and show no wear.

Is there a cost benefit to swaged vs stay-lock or hi-mod fittings?

It depends.

So, lots of questions, and I realize that the answers might not be very helpful, but helpful ones would take a lot of time on my part, and that is not the intent of this page. Buy or borrow a copy of the "Apprentice." Likewise my video on rig inspection. Or just feed us the questions in smaller increments.
