![]() Preparing to hitch a wheel for a lubberly neighbor's Beer Barge.
What kind of twine do you recommend? I was planning simple french hitching with turk's head's a la the Apprentice at the five spokes. It's a small wheel (13.5 Inches OD - Elliptical cross section: 1" x 0.75"). Thriftiest option available, since I'm doing it for off-season therapy and Grog. - Joe |

![]() Seine twine, although for a lubberly "Beer Barge", you could get a little creative, rather than salty, no? Snakeskin with velvet tassles? Fake leopard fur?

![]() Heck, I'd use 550 cord. If that's too big, I'd use one of the seven strands inside of the 550 cord, or just the jacket from the 550 cord...

![]() I have used three strand nylon fishing line (100# test) to good effect. nice small but long spool makes it easy to work with and doesn't build up to much bulk. You will probably use something larger diameter for the turks heads though, about 1/8" line.
Good luck, and keep the hitches and tension even or your spiral will be wonky as it goes around the wheel.

![]() Snakepit: do you have a picture of the finished wheel? Love to see it.
