wire to rope splice--12braid to 12braid

I have a good supply of smaller diameter (3/16) Spectra, the super rope that I would like to use for halyards. The problem is not strength but how hard it is on the hands. Do you have a good solution for the splice to a larger softer rope I could use for the tail? And what would be the stuff to splice to it? Use it with another hollow braid 12 strand that is light and not nearly as spendy or strong. The strength is only needed in the the tension part of the haul, the rest ends up in the cockpit as you know. Would I use the 12 braidsplice similar to the grommet in the field book? And the differnt size rope makes me think I am looking at a taper similar to the wire to rope splice.
I see in the big book all the parameters for the wire to rope splice, and I would think it all applies to this set up. With just the Dux replacing the wire in the book. I am currently using the Dux for all the pennants on my head sails, using short pennants for shackles and quick hitches for things like vangs, my backstay, and now would like to get those heavy halyards re-rigged. Life lines are next also, as well as trampoline rigging in the bows and between the hulls of my trimaran.
By the way, the McDonald Brummel in the field book is a hit! It has allowed me to put an eye in the hollow 12 braid with confidence, and I am coming up with all kinds of applications for it.
