Default Part Identification Help

Hi everyone,

This image shows a piece of "plastic" that I removed from the roller furler top swivel. It's a kind of plastic that was riveted to the inside of the swivel that slides up and down the genoa foil. I guess this is used to provide a smoother motion and not have aluminium on aluminium which would damage both the foil and the swivel.

This is kind of pinkish colour and it's around 1mm thick and somewhat flexible.

Does anyone know what kind of material this is? Can I use a sheet of teflon to fabricate a replacement?
The furler in question is a Colnebrook Seareef which no longer exists.

Regards,
Luis

If you can't use the furler without that part and you can't get a replacement, then you have nothing to lose by trying to make one. I say, "Go for it!"

Is this made of a sheet or have it originally been a "sleeve" ?

1 mm is not easy to machine.

Hi!

This is made of a sheet of some kind of plastic. Four rivets going through teflon washers old it in place. Also the teflon washers are positioned in such a way that the swivel won't spin around the foil.

I'm thinking of ordering this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6495-PTFE-...item4ac49791f5

For 9 euro I'll try to fabricate a replacement part.

Cheers,
Luis

Default Work

Hi,
It's good for us to help each other -- that is what this page is about -- but let's keep the commercial offers elsewhere. I even try to avoid mentioning my merchandise here.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss

Hi Brion,

Apologies for including the link to eBay. It was not my intention for any commercial purpose other than to illustrate what I think I could use to fabricate a replacement part.

Best regards,
Luis
