Just a reminder that the volunteer riggers of USS CONSTELLATION are continuing their work of shortening the port mainmast shrouds and replacing and retensioning the deadeye lanyards. This work involves cutting, re-capping and serving the ends of the shrouds, as well as tying a Matthew Walker knot in 1 1/4 Dacron for the lanyard and setting up a tackle to tension it. If you've ever wanted to practice traditional maritime skills using modern materials on a historic ship, this is it.
No experience or prior skills required. We can teach you everything you need to know.
We work every other Saturday from about 8:30-12:00. Please contact me at
kevinz@charm.net if you have any questions, or would like to be added to our email list for rigging announcements regarding CONSTELLATION.
