Default Sta-Set X halyards

I am replacing some old running rigging on my Cal 34. I sailing the Puget Sound and head offshore only rarely. I thought I wanted to replace the halyards with Sta-set X. I have been strongly advised by my trusted rigger that is going aloft for me to use some Sampson XLS yacht braid which appears to be 2x the cost. Any comments on what I gain in service/performance besides a larger bill?
