Splicing Dyneema w/ technora cover

Some time ago, when splicing V-100 (Vectran with a poly cover), I noticed a difference in the directions from Samson versus New England. The NE directions are pretty vague about how to bury the tail of the cover, and finding it hard enough to get the cover to milk back over the splice without burying the cover tail, I just left the tails out, lock-stiched them down, and covered them over with a whipping or fancy work. Then I had a big job splicing Dyneema with a 75% technora cover--even harder to get the cover to milk back over! But I also saw that other riggers were managing to make a very tidy splice and still burying the cover tail!

It took some research, but I finally found a european video of someone doing such an eye splice, and immediately it was obvious that with the sequence of NE ropes' directions, burying the cover tail is impossible! Having seen the video once (and remembering Samson's sequence), the steps to take are easy and obvious, but my question is for those who've done some of these is:
1) how much more difficult is it to milk back a cover with lots of technora in it than one that's poly.
2) Are the bigger sizes (say, 1/2" to 5/8"), with pre-stretched, heat-treated cores (like Marlow's D12 MAX) significantly more difficult than 1/4" with non-heat-treated cores.

I want to make the best and tidiest splices possible, so any tips or tricks will be of monumental help.
