![]() I found the post that inspired this madness and I suppose I misinterpreted the materials. The writeup was using dyneema and sta-set. And it specifies 3/16" into 3/8". The defender sale was ending and I was hasty in placing the order. Oh well, that's why they call it throwing money in the hole... So I foolishly leave in search of another solution. But if it could have been done it would have been sleek.

![]() Hi,
Saw your post, I came across the same issue some years ago and found that using Brion's advice and employing the technique (with a few minor adjustments) described in his book Working Rope Book 5, Pages 79-85 (Simple HM Grommet) what you want to do is pretty straight forward. I'm assuming that you want the 3/16" Dyneema/Amsteel/Vectran or whatever high tech uncovered portion of the halyard will be from the masthead to the securing point of the halyard (for strength/low stretch /sheave profile purposes) so the 50/50 combination with the VPC may have to be adjusted. If you need some rudimentary instructions email me jjh(ampersand)oddpost.com |
