Default turnbuckle insignia I.D. and break strength

Curious if anyone knows who uses an insignia of two stars on their bronze turnbuckles?

Any way to know break strength/quality of a new bronze turnbuckle? (that one in particular, yet if there were no insignia?

thnx

Default Strength

Hello,
I'm drawing a blank on the manufacturer that uses the stars, but there isn't a lot of variation among the various makes. Measure the pin diameter and look up Hayn or Navtec.
As for quality, that's a whole other thing; my favorite, in terms of design, quality control, and customer service, is definitely Hayn.
Fair leads,

Oh, right, ARCO. Way too many reports of failures with their gear. Until I find out otherwise, they are on my do-not-trust list. This speaks to the aforementioned "quality varies" part of my previous post.
Fair leads,

Sincerely appreciate the feedback! Are there any great sources for used bronze turnbuckles?

Default Hayn / Navtec product source

...and / or what (great, inexpensive, secret) source would you recommend for the Hayn or Navtec product? Am in BC, close enough to Bellingham particularly or Seattle and, shipment to friends is possible. Thnx...my project is turning out to be bigger than I thought/budgeted!

Default Failures

Brion, interested in what kinds of failures has there been with the Alexander roberts stuff? Were they a material issue or manufacturing issue? in your humble opinion

Hi again,
First, I don't know of an inexpensive source for good turnbuckles. Shop around, get the best discount you can wangle. Heck, call us for a price.
As for the nature of Alexander Roberts failures, I've seen numerous failures of double-jaw toggles at the turnbuckle lower ends, and a few barrel failures. Too many. At least as bad, the I have heard reliable reports that reps are in denial about these failures. Hardware failure happens to even the best of fabricators; it's what they do afterward that matters. I had a client with a cracked Hayn toggle on one turnbuckle. Hayn replaced all of the turnbuckles on the boat. And fast. With profuse and sincere apologies.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss
