Default Spectra with cover Stripped

I see a lot of double braid spectra used with the cover stripped. How resistant to chafe and UV is spectra like this? Can you splice just the core of spectra into eyes for instance to attach to some of the lightweight Equiplite connectors?

thanks

Mike

Default Most, but not all...

Most covered spectra these days is designed to be stripped, the core is tightly woven and UV coated -- but some is not. The cover is there to protect the spectra, so uncovered it will chafe and UV degrade faster.

With that said, if you want light weight and low windage, stripping is what you want.

You can indeed strip the cover and splice the spectra in any way that you want...
