Turnbuckle Sizing

I'm looking at page 166 Table 5 "Matching wire and turnbuckle sizing" and it's a tad confusing.

It loooks like you're supposed to look up the wire size in the right two columns and then choosed the turnbuckle in the left hand column. Assuming that is correct I have two questions:

1) What does the "Jaw width" heading over the wire size columnd mean?

2) How does Stainless Steel wire fit into this table, it only lists Bronze and Galvanized Steel.

Hello,
First, yes the turnbuckle size is in the left hand column. The strengths of bronze (or stainless, or bronze/stainless) is in the next column, and the strength of galvanized steel turnbuckles is in the one after that.
Then come the "Jaw Width" columns, with two rows of numbers in each. The one on the left is for bronze turnbuckles. The left of the two columns in this box shows the turnbuckle jaw width -- the space between the jaws -- and the right column shows the 1x19 wire diameters suited to that size turnbuckle. So a 1/2" bronze turnbuckle has a jaw width of 1/2", and accepts up to 9/32" 1x19.
The next box is for galvanized steel turnbuckles, and the 7x7 or 7x19 wire sizes that match them. Here a 1/2" galvanized turnbuckle has a 5/8" jaw width, and accepts up to 3/8" wire.
Not, I admit, the clearest chart, and if I ever get around to revising the book I'll work on this.
