Default sprit/boom vang

Ok, so I understand (as I sail boats with this rig) that by having the tack below the clew, and a sprit , or club boom, which hangs from a snotter on the mast at clew height, we can control the leech tension, and outhaul. But both are controlled simultaneously.

Has anybody seen or thought about rigging a vang from the sprit so the leech can be shaped regardless of outhaul (snotter) tension?

Thinking of trying it this summer on the Canoes, however I am searching for opinions or expertise before I go ‘sprit breaking’...
