Default Possible overkill

Hi there,
I believe the Validator line is high-modulus, which is more than most boats need for a jib sheet; is this a race boat? Is there a specific problem with the Dacron double-braid?
As for the knot, it has a bunch of names, including Lark's Head, Girth Hitch, Bail Hitch and (shudder) Luggage Tag Hitch. But I prefer Ring Hitch. And as long as it doesn't slip, or crush the material at the clew, it's okay, but it will weaken HM rope a lot, and is more likely to chafe and hang up than a Brummel Hitch (see Working Rope, book 5, or the Apprentice).
Fair leads,
Brion Toss
