I already placed an order - flying next week and need to get everything ready by Monday, but hopefully it will work out: the pole is 2 3/8" OD, 0.90" Wall thickness, 94" long. CF filament wound,...

For the through the mast connection, colligo marine makes cheeky tangs, which I plan on using for the next rigging upgrade. This should eliminate both the toggle and thimble components. And the...

aluminum pole thickness vs CF

What's a rule of thumb for converting aluminum mast thickness into carbon fiber?

I'd like to build a CF radar pole - 2 72" parts joined with a ferrule. I've seen aluminum poles for radar from Edson...

filling in holes in the mast?

I plan on taking off the radar dome of the mast and there will be 6 3/8" holes in the section right above the spreaders in the center on each side.

What's the best way to fill in the holes or would...

lubricating mast sheaves?

Do aluminum mast sheaves need any lubrication? Which one? Can this be done with running rigging on?

Thanks!

seizing wire for turnbuckles?

My turnbuckle studs have some tef-gel on them and in high waves and strong wind, they start turning a little. This may have something to do with a lack of tension, but I'm wondering if using seizing...

Roger that. I thought dyneema is too slippery for knots? Especially as-78...
Yes, the hole I have on the roller furler is probably 3/8" - 1/2" and it will be too big for a stopper knot.

Another idea...

Yes, I'll send a sample. If you don't mind, will also send a few other splices to break to know what to expect.

The main consideration for me for is not weakening the splice when it goes up and down...

dogbone as dyneema line terminator?

I have a carbon fiber rod leftover from another project and am wondering if it would make sense to use it (cut in pieces) as a dog bone when terminating dyneema on a roller furler (there is a hole on...

What is the best way to splice together dyneema with cover and uncovered?

The lines below are: warpspeed II (3/8" diameter, about 1/4 or 5/16" dyneema SK-75 and 3/16" AS-78 dyneema...

samson warpspeed 3/8" dyneema core diameter?

Does anybody know the dyneema core diameter of the 3/8" warpspeed line? Either warpspeed I or II.

End for end dyneema splicing is best done with the same diameter rope, right?

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, I read about conductivity of CF and the article also mentioned titanium as pretty much the only metal not susceptible to corrosion in connection with carbon fiber.

In fact, I have a lot of...

I see. Yes, it's a good point. If there is air or some sort of impurity in the hull, it may be an issue with a composite chainplate. At the same time, from what I can find online, polyester is only...

Thank you, Ben. When you say that it's possible to end up with a ripped piece of laminate when you glue the chainplate vs bolt it to the same area of the hull, what is the rationale for this? Any...

shroud tension for oversize wire

It's a 30' sloop. There is a 90% jib on the roller furler, so it should be 11' foot length + 30' boat length + some extra. You're probably right. 50 or 55'.

What kind of rope would you...
