I figured this would probably be the first response. This is on an all line anchor windlass (Series 500 CFDM) located well forward with no provision for the chain. This is a recreational fishing...

Thimble vs Shackle Splice

I'm putting together an all line (buccaneer 8-plait) anchor rode for a guy's Good Automatic windlass. Does anyone have an opinion on a putting in a thimbled eye versus doing a nice tight shackle...

You should have no problem returning those to the manufacturer. Considering they are "faulty out of the box" you can not be responsible for the shipping costs either. It's very unfortunate that you...

Ask other contractors in your area for who to deal with. In this area 90% of us all use the same (local) company. That level of insurance isn't unusual so far as I can tell. Ours is a municipal...

Well then this begs the question... Why isn't it used? Are there ANY downsides at all? Sure cost is an issue but it shouldn't be the determining factor. Bronze seems to be the standard turnbuckle...

I'm looking in an older catalog and it's got the 1851 as a Stays'l furler (no foil) but elsewhere it does confirm a Unit 2 as a #6 luff tape. Actually it's showing with the MX III's a #6 tape from a...
