I don't understand how this is an improvement on anything.

You still need two cleats; if you already have that, why not just lead one clew reef to one, one clew reef to the other and avoid the crazy...

I recently spliced up a halyard for my 35' masthead boat. Complete with stripped cover. It's made from Endura braid, so it has a wicked strong amsteel core.

but the crossover, I need to whip. and...

OK, so a brummel splice on the core-to-12strand part...got that mentally.

What about the cover and 12-strand?
Just bury the cover for looks, or do a brummel on that as well?

Where would I find info on how to splice a high-tech 12-strand to a double braid?

Application is spinnaker halyard on a 35' masthead rig.

I don't like the idea of buying 100' of high tech line,...

Chafe at the crossing point

To eliminate the chafe where the Vectran Crosses, put in a simple upright block, like a Harken 096. This will push one of the lines up (or down) to prevent them from touching.

Thanks for all the input.

Yes, I mis-typed. I looked it up after I posted and realized that the correct length was 48 diameters of the overall diameter.

Splicing high-tech double braid.

So I need to put a couple splices in Endura Braid, which has a Dyneema 12-strand core and a more-or-less standard polyester cover. The line is 3/8" diameter, overall.

I have Brion's "Riggers...

Hello all.

I recently had my mast unstepped for some overdue rigging work.
As a result the chainplates became clearly visible for the first time since owning the boat (only 3 years).
