3/8th stanchion holes and 5mm, a little bigger than 3/16 Dux, right; it should fit.
I have found dacron cover braid works well chafe protecting single braid dyneema.
That would have been perfect, except that I didn't think to do it before putting in my splices! So now I am limited, I suppose, to things that I can wrap on.

As for the stanchions I think I saved a penny when I shouldn't have by buying cheap top caps. There aren't any burrs but they do have a bit of a hard edge,
