Removing Sta-Loks

So, these are supposedly re-usable... but not easily I found out today. Any tips or tricks to getting a sto-lok dissambled for re-use?

Cut wire right above Sta-lok and punch it thru from the back? Unbend each strand individually and pry out the cone from the front?
