eliminating jumpers

I purchased a alan pape ebbtide 33 built in 1983. I am in the process of replacing all of the rigging.I have used and liked sta-loks but really like the hayns and think i will go that route I have been using brions book and find it and this list a tremendous help. In conversations with my rigger we talked about the jumpers he called them "sail shredders" and suggested eliminating them. the rig is beefy with runners and I tend to agree but wondered what the list thought I have some other questions but one at a time. thanks john in the keys
