Default CarbonFiber Rig work

Hello,
I was wondering what kind of drill bits you use in carbon rigs, and how long do they hold up. We work with alot of carbon rigs, and the bits we use only last, maybe 5-10 holes before they are so dull they wander and make a sloopy hole. Was wondering if anyone here has a better kind of bit that will last longer.
Thanks

Default Ah, progress

Hello,
I wish I could help you here, but even super-duper bits seem to go dull on that stuff; fortunately we don't have to deal with it very often around here. I'll be calling some sparbuilders, see what they recommend. Stand by.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss

Suggest you contact Nan Hall at Hall Spars. I'm confident that she can help.

Cheers,

We have found that it all depends on the degree at which the bit has been ground.

Most bits are ground to 118 degrees and use a plit point. We have found that 60 degree non split works great.

Default Nan Hall sez...

Carbide. And no doubt drill angle and tip style are factors.
