![]() Hello,
Sure, it can be done. But what is the application? Our most common configuration involves splicing the Spectra to the Dacron core, using a Brummel like the one for HM grommets (see Splicing handbook), and then burying a long tail. The length of the tail will vary with application. Another form involves a different configuration in Regatta Braid. So, more info please. Fair leads, Brion Toss |

![]() Thanks Brion
I am replacing the wire/rope jib and main halyards for rope/rope. The mast cap sheaves are limited top 6mm wire or rope and the halyard winches will take 8-10mm. I intended to use spectra at the mast and a larger diameter rope at the handling end. I wanted to splice the 6mm spectra (to go through the cap sheaves) end to end to 8 plait pre stretched polyester (for the halyard winches). I found some instructions on the web but all were for same rope type and same diameter. i.e. http://www.sailingservices.com/runni...df_end_spl.htm. The boat is a 28' GRP masthead sloop of 3.5 ton. Ian PS I have the Complete Riggers Apprentice. |
