![]() Sorry for overloading this forum with questions, but I'm finally getting good answers to the rigging problems, so maybe people can help solve another issue.
Does anybody know a reliable source to buy 316 flat bars to make chainplates from? Preferable steel made in the US. Or maybe ready chainplates if the prices are reasonable. I need two of them for a jordan drogue. Many thanks! Gleb |

![]() Buy titanium flat bar and make them from that instead. Most of the cost is in the labor not the metal, and titanium is much prefered. Look for G5.

![]() Thank for the link to mcmaster - I'll take a look!
Titanium sounds good too! Do you know a good source to buy a titainum flat bar from? I know a shop that makes titanium chainplates, but they charge at least $200-300 per chainplate, and compared to $15-25 for a 316 flat bar (1.5x0.25x12), and roughly $30 of asking your local metal shop machinist to drill 5 holes and polish it a little bit, it's very cost ineffective. Thanks! Gleb |

![]() Try allied titanium. They do piece work regularly. It will cost more to have the, do the cutting, but any decent machine shop should be able to drill a few holes. It just takes very low speeds and lots of cutting oil (refined olive oil for preference with titanium).
