![]() What is the generally expected life for rigging constructed from 316 stainless steel wire with swaged fittings? Besides looking for corrosion, broken wires, cracked swages, turnbuckles or toggles are there any other indications of end of life ?
One old-salt friend of mine made a statement that sta-lock fittings would last forever. I am the owner of a 26 year old Beneteau First 35 with (I believe) original wire and fittings. |

![]() nothing lasts forever - well, except diamonds (as we are continuously reminded this time of year)

Your Old Salt friend is wrong. Life expectancy for rigging varies with climate. |
