![]() I am trying to use a Brummel splice to put a shackle in the middle of my new Samson Extra sheets. I can't get a large enough hole in the rope to get the end through. The cover is pretty tight. I thought if I could get the core out, I could do the core and cover separately, but that isn't working either. Any ideas? |

![]() Are you meaning the sampson XLS extra? I've personally not spliced this one yet but I personally save the brummels for the 12 strands. If the extra is anything at all like some of the other core-dependant lines the cover is probably super tight. Actually a good mid-line core dependant splice is a very good question. I will say though that I'm not a big fan of shackles on sheets. As a racing bowman I know how potentially painful that can be. There are dozens of different sail to sheet combo's that work well. However, I'm very interested to see what sort of splice is reccomended here.
