Default Spectra-to-Braid?

The Reckmann furler that our staysail lives on currently uses a wire-to-rope furling line and conveniently runs through a rope clutch on the cockpit coaming. The wire has gotten old and I'm tired of it's fishhooks grabbing my ankles every time I walk up to the foredeck. I would much prefer having a Spectra-to-braid furling line but I wouldn't have a clue on how to long splice the two together. Even though the staysail is small and doesn't take all that many revolutions to furl, if I were to go with 7/16" or 1/2" line the entire length, I'd have to change out several blocks and guides, which I'm reluctant to do. Any suggestions?

Fair winds and calm seas.

Default Strip the cover

Why not find a line with a line with a dyneema core, and a strippable cover? Done on halyards all the time...
