Hrmm, I'll take that as a "No".

It's obviously an older furler- it has a round aluminum luff extrusion that has rotated (about 90 degrees) in relation to the furling drum. The surveyor suggested repairing the staysail furler as opposed to simply replacing it altogether, I think it might be difficult to repair without knowing the maker!

The jib furler is a new Furlex, and seems very satisfactory-

Default Is the extrusion load bearing?

Is the extrusion load bearing or does it surround a load bearing wire? I know that some of the furlers with load bearing extrusions have been deemed not worth fixing -- Hyde Streamstay comes to mind...

I believe there is a stay within the extrusion, but I am not sure- Is there a way for me to check (without disassembling the furler)?

Default Try these guys...

Without knowing what it is, it is tough to comment...

Try to contact Rigrite (www.rigrite.com). These guys specialize in obsolete parts -- they stock parts for a few old furlers.

Good luck,

Bob

This is just a guess, 1st would be an old Schaefer 2nd would be an old Hood. Sending a pic to either companies tech support would confirm.

good luck
