Default South Coast Blocks

Ahoy Sailors and Riggers , I have been wondering just how long the plastic cheeks will last on South Coast blocks ?

I guess that anyone who owns the discontinued South Coast blocks, would never part with them , mainly because of their durability and service-ability at sea , but how long do those red plastic cheeks , last ? ,,,,, and how to determine when it is time for replacement ?

Can you purchase that red plastic and shop-bench re-make replacement cheeks, instead of replacing them with wood ? and if you had to replace them with wood, what wood would be best ?

What about the durability and how long does that black plastic used on those v expensive Nicro snatch blocks , last ?

If I was buried at sea, would they put my South Coast blocks in the canvas bag with me ?
