![]() On our final day of sailing on the St Martin's River in Maryland, just yards from the Ocean Pines boat ramp, the mast of the 17 foot Siren (purchased in the 1970's) came loose. It is a tribute to my husband's quick and capable skippering that our kids and the boat came off the water safely. However, we found that the attachments for the shrouds had come loose entirely and the step area for the mast needs repair as well. We are concerned now about all the 35 year old hardware and attachments. The distance to Back Yard Boats near Annapolis is seeming longer and longer, and I wonder if there are boat repair places nearer, not necessarily in the Ocean City phone book, but nearer than Annapolis? Any reccomendations?
Also - the area around Ocean City seems to be even less well exploited by sailboats than it was 25 years ago - why? It is a lovely place to sail, and we have had some very exciting days over the last decade (see above). |
