I have been looking at the Diamond knot as a stopper, but I'm still not happy.
Pelorus,

Turns out the Carrick bend with the tucks, the "modified Turk's Head" I was looking at is actually one and the same as the Diamond knot. I would not be surprised to find that any good stopper is going to use up a lot of line.
