short splice in HM
I need to make a couple of short straps in 3/8 HM line with an eye and thimble in each end 14" and 16". Is this possible? Even with a drastic taper it seems that is not much bury.

Try a set of duck billed pliers. Kinda like needle nose but with a flat end , gives much more grip and leverage than regular needle nosed pliers I use them all of the time for wire forming.
