Default New Tool

Hello all,
I rarely buy tools these days. Mostly this is because, as my spouse never tires of pointing out, I have already bought them all. But recently my friend Brooks Jones sent me a pair of scissors that are a modern-rope-splicers Grail: they cut high-modulus rope, and they do so without getting dull. I've been using mine for a month or so, cutting Spectra nearly every day, and they still just slice through.
Those of you who have worked with this stuff know how significant this is. HM fibers are extremely tough, and will dull most knives and scissors extremely fast. That's why we long ago adopted the use of ceramic knives. But knives aren't always handy for things like trimming splices, and that's where these scissors come in. I immediately bought two pairs for myself, sold a pair to the sail loft upstairs, sold a bunch to the students at our most recent weekend workshop, and ordered a couple of dozen more. You will find them in our catalog (http://www.briontoss.com/catalog/splicinggear.html.).
As the regulars here know, I very rarely make commercial announcements on this page, but this one is too cool to leave out.Order yours now. Mention that you saw them on Spartalk, and we'll knock a couple of dollars off. Tell a friend!
Fair leads,
Brion Toss
