Great ideas. Not having the far end available (which is why I was thinking Mobius Brummel.. I should have clarified) I went ahead and just made the eye large enough to barely get it over the ring. It seems pretty well "on there" so I'll go ahead and seize it and figure it'll probably be fine.
So far the project (rigging a junk schooner) is going swimmingly!
