Xls?

XLS is stretchier than X, at least at low-to-medium loads where you'll typically be sailing, which is why I'd prefer to use X. It is possible that your trusty rigger is talking about XLS Extra, which has a Spectra core. This stretches a lot less, and it might be worth using on your boat. New England's VPC is another possibility. Benefits of less stretch, aside from performance, include less frequent reefing, and the halyard helps preserve sail shape in higher windspeeds.
