The tight rings are a tolerance issue, and Hayn, with their uncommonly excellent customer service will swiftly replace what you have if you want, but you can also just ream the holes out a touch, so they slide on easily. Remember, the ring is just there as a spacer, and to align the yarns; the hole size is not critical. Also bear in mind that you might have an odd-size wire core. It happens.
As for the threads showing, Hayn will be able to tell you for certain if this is normal for this size wire. One of the consequences of using one terminal for more than one size wire -- and this is true for any manufacturer -- is that the terminal will be more closed with some sizes than others. Of course, this is assuming that you cut the wire square, and that you are not pushing the wedge down any further than the ring dictates.
