The best way to get the wire out is to cut the wire as short as you can at the fitting. Then unscrew the fitting a couple of turns,(it helps to have it in a vise).Then find a punch that would be a little smaller than the wire size. With the fitting in the vise knock the wire/cone into the fitting. Once it is loose open the fitting all the way.Then the wire/cone should push right out. Make sure you get new cones(they are sized by the wire size). You can't reuse the old cones. A little clean up, then your ready to reassemble the fitting.
