Default Wooden Boat Magazine

So I was looking at the article about the high speed racing dingy which was featured in this months wooden boat mag, the one with the 'gaff' rig.

The photos they show are very difficult to see every detail in, but the rig is certainly new to me. It looks like they maybe used a harken recirculating ball bearing track and cars to keep the 'gaff' from rotating, allowing the topping lift to gaff end to bend the rig ?

I wonder what the calculations were for figuring the side loads on those track cars ?

I also notice it looks like they laid up a ring into the top of the carbon fiber mast which all the shouds are hitched onto...wonder about the details of that arrangement.

Perhaps some riggers here have been staring at those photos and figured out answers or have thoughts of their own on the rig.

Thing is kinda neat, for a dingy anyway...

Thanks, Brian
