I know spectra(amsteel) is great in UV, and a bunch of race boats are going with lifelines of such material (lighter, and nicer on your foulies when you're hiking out) and there's not going to be alot of static load on them (as compared to tensile strength) so the creep that spectra gets won't be a problem. I've generally seen alot of chafe at the stantions, which could be avoided with little ~5' long dacron or spectra covers, or it may not be a big problem.
