Puzzler Hint
Hi Brion,
Finally got around to checking the Puzzler for this month, and have one question I hoped you could answer. About what size is this boat ? I will have my guess anyway, but for 400 lbs to make a that a big difference, I would guess the boat around 55 ft or smaller. I have been on plenty of boats in this size that there was no noticable difference in sailing between everyone on deck, and few guys going up each mast. We have done this again and again when playing with weight aloft and its effects on sailing. You made no changes to the mast other than repairs ? NONE ? This must be quite a big boat I would guess, or it had a iron 'crows nest' mounted up there ! Sorry, thats not my 'official' question. Obivously the amount of weight that can be saved varies greatly depending on the size of boat. A 30 foot schooner would need to ditch a whole mast and rigging to save the 400 lbs, I would think, whereas a few double or triple blocks on a 120' boat could add up to that. Just the one hint, please. What size boat ? Really looking forward to hearing about what must be some really neat rigging, Thanks for providing a forum for us Rigging Nerds ! |
Puzzler

The fine yacht that Brion and crew are working on is the 78' schooner Sugertime. Good luck with the puzzler it takes some imagination.:) |
