Traditional rigging - wire splicing and other muses
 

A couple of months ago, I spliced up a new set of standing rigging for
the Tahiti Ketch TAIHOA located here in Sausalito. I thought it would
be a good idea to document the wire splicing and worm, parcel, and
serving techniques I have picked up over the years and share them with
anyone who is interested.

Thank you so much for sharing that. One of my biggest hobbies is splicing synthetic ropes. Wire rope is something I've never taken the chance to learn about. It continually mystifies me!

Seriously, folks, for those of you who don't know Mr. White, he is one of the pre-eminent traditional riggers in the world. If you are interested in the subject, study those photo's real closely, and pester him for more.

Hi Brion,

Thanks for the nice words and I know I face years of therapy for splicing in the upright and vertical position. Remeber, Homo Erectus was the first rigger, IIRC not Homo Horizontus ;)

It's just ever since that tragic Limbo accident of my misspent youth, anything horizontal gives me flashbacks - well, almost everything horizontal :D
