Canadian Blocks

I have about 25 original blocks on my 1973 schooner, most of which could easily be replaced due to split shells. However I haven't been able to find blocks which are similar. The only markings are a maple leaf on the shell sheve plate with "Made In Canada" around the edge. The wood is either lignum vitae (same as the deadeyes) or as I believe, made from black walnut. They look incredible when sanded and oiled. All metal on the block is bronze. Can someone direct me to the manufacturer of these blocks or possible shell replacements with similar wood?
Thanks
Bob

I can't remember the name...

But it sounds like the work of an oar and block maker in Lunenburg. I think it's A. Dauphinee & Sons Ltd. They don't have a website, so far as I can tell. Try asking at any of the following:

Amgine,
Thanks for the information in your reply. I followed the Dauphines link and I will call them tomorrow, but I believe they are the manufacturers of the blocks and probably the deadeyes as well. I was searching through some of the original paperwork and found an old faded and waterstained document that looks to have the word Dauphines handwriten. Thanks again.

If your blocks are by Dauphinee, they're gold. Very definitely worth repairing/restoring. Wishing you the best of luck with them.
