Stalock or Norseman

After a quick search for swageless fittings on this forum, it seems there is a consensus that is more pro the Stalock than the Norseman fittings. What might be the specific reasons for the preferance?

I am planning to re-rig and as a DIY kinda guy, the swageless route seems to be the way for me to go... Any thoughts?

Check out Hayn, too

I'll let others comment on Stalok versus Norseman. I use Stalok, but mostly because I always have, and I am setup to purchase them easily...

Be sure to check out the terminals from Hayn, too. A bit more artful in design, and with a star washer to keep the strands in check.

Sta-Lok

Hello,
We find Sta-Loks easier to assemble, and we have had far fewer problems with metallurgy, fit, and finish than we've seen with Norsepersons. And customer service, courtesy of U.S. importer Sailing Services, is phenomenal.
As for Hayn's I hope to give them another try, as the terminal is even easier to assemble, a bit stronger, and prettier, to my eye. But our rigging manager has had to suffer through so much pain and expense (thousands of dollars) due to assorted problems that he is so far refusing to allow them in the shop. As for customer service, my most recent plea for help elicited a response that included, "to be perfectly candid as far as I know your company stands alone in switching back?" (meaning back to Sta-Lok). This is the kind of nobody-else-is-complaining-so-why-aren't-you-happy approach that drives me crazy.
Anyway, I have hope for Hayn, but meanwhile Sta-Loks are what we are using.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss

Problems with Hayn ???

If you can disclose? What sort of problems did you have with the terminals, failures defects etc?? Or just bad cutomer service?

Thanks
Jake

I was considering Norseman as well but after reading the Good old Boat review about them failing well below the wire strength I opted not to go with Norseman:

Hello,
I started to type an actionable reply, but will refrain. Perhaps in a private message?

Would you mind forwarding that reply on to me? Up to now I've been a fan of the Hayn fittings and I'd hate to think I've been using something I shouldn't have been.

I would also like to have that reply if possible. I am in the middle of rigging two boats with Hayn terminals and still have time to do something else if need be. Thanks.

Hello,
The reply in question is regarding Norseman terminals; we have had our problems with Hayn as well, but not to the point that I would unrecommend them.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss
