toggle or shackle
The tangs for the intermediate and lower shrouds are arranged so as to form jaws. The 5/32" marine eye fits between the jaw and the pin goes athwartship. The lead isn't right. If I add a toggle the lead will be good below the toggle, but there will still be an unfair lead between the tang and the toggle. Would it be better to use a D shackle instead of a toggle? This is for a 25' Vertue Sloop. Bill

First rule of rigging
Hi,
Neither a toggle nor a shackle will eliminate the foul lead, though both will distribute its consequences a bit better. The best solution is to adjust the bend of the tangs, so that the pins are square to the load. Just be sure that, when doing this, you don't change the alignment of the pin holes.
