Vote for the Boat
 

Hello,
American Express is conducting an online vote to see who gets funding through a program they are running. The schooner Adventuress, one of the finest boats I know, is a strong contender for first place, and they can use our help. Go to this site: http://www.preservationnation.org/pa.../vote-now.html
and sign up to vote for the boat. Sign-in is pretty easy, even for a techanderthal like me. Once you are in, you can come back and vote every day, until May 12.
For those of you who don't know this boat, it is a Crowninshield design, built in 1914, that has been conducting sail training on Puget Sound for decades. It's great program, that has changed a lot of lives for the better.

I have forgotten when the vote closes - about a week. Adventuress was leading till yesterday when Seattle Town Hall closed the gap. They are now tied with 17% cumulative each. This is like an endurance race where voting each day matters. THe machine keeps you from voting more than once a day so we won't have an American Idol style tweetertwerp, but VOTE EACH DAY.

Hi all,
As of this morning, Adventuress is leading, 18% to 17% over Town Hall. Keep voting, and spread the word on this. Oh, and Sound Experience, that runs the boat, is holding a drawing to give away a day on the water for you and 44 of your friends. All you have to do to qualify is go to their site and register to tell them you voted.

Adventuress Wins!
 

Hello all,
Thanks to a world-wide community of sailors, many of you included, the schooner "Adventuress" will be getting a rebuilt stern, with funds awarded by American Express. Voting over the past month, we kept the boat in a neck-and-neck race with another deserving entity, the Town Hall in Seattle. At the finish, as I understand it, the difference was so close that Amex, bless their hearts, decided to give the top prize to both organizations. Not split it
-- give each of them $125,000.
