Cat Trampoline
I want to attach my cruising cat (49' Garry Lidgard design) trampoline with individual lashings, ie not the single line, laced-up approach. While spectra does well with UV, is strong, and relatively chafe resistant, I have been cautioned that it is slippery and may be difficult to "knot". What would be the most appropriate line and knot to use for this application? Thanks for the help.

Both the water knot and the various variations of the double fisherman hold well in slick ropes, but they must be tied while the line is slack. If you are doing multiple passes (around and around between each grommet and eyestrap of whatever there is to attach it to) and then frapping, a square knot should do, since the knot takes very little strain in that instance. If you take the free ends coming out of the reef knot and tuck them between the passes of the lashing with the help of a marlinspike or fid, that should keep them from flying about loose and letting the square knot come undone.
