Internal Hailyards

I have a dumb question. If I convert my hailyards from external to internal, should I use some kind of conduit inside the mast to prevent noise? I am cruising and in Cartagena Columbia right now and do not have access to a boat with internal hailyards to see how it is done. I would like to have any comments you care to make.
Thanks
Bob:)

You shouldn't have problems with noise. Unless the halyards are slack they don't have much room to move and have nothing except momentum and gravity to move them around unlike with external where the wind can cause them to flap. Just make sure they run fair and aren't bearing on any internal bolts, rivets, or wiring and that they aren't at all twisted.
