frequent rig adjustment -
Is it possible that frequent adjustment of the rig on a racer/cruiser could cause the dyform wires or the associated rig screws to fatigue or work harden? The tuning guides for our boat call for fairly radical adjustment to forestay, V1's, D1's and D2's depending on wind strength so it's plausible that ours could be changed at least weekly if I was diligent about it.
I'd think that the constant load / unload cycles of tacking would overshadow whatever I do with the Loos gauge and shifter but thought I'd ask. |
You'll have far more change in rigging stresses slamming against a Strong Gale (Force 9, 44 knots or so). Stress hardening is not a consideration unless you're bending the metal.
