Tool store in Seattle

Brion,

A year or so ago, you gave a talk to a group of sailors in Port Townsend, and you mentioned a store in Seattle (Ballard or Freemont, I think) that had a fantastic selection of oddball and useful tools. I can't recall the name, and the dog ate my notes from the talk. Could you please refresh my memory?

Thanks,

hardware stores

I'll bet that would be either Hardwick & Sons Inc. on Roosevelt or Ballard Hardware...both great places. Hardwicks has old unusual tools as well as new ones. Ballard Hardware actually has some prices as good as anywhere, like for some stainless fasteners.

Hardwick's

Hi,
Ballard Hardware is also a great place, by whenever I'm in Seattle I nearly always arrange to worship at the shrine of Hardwick's. It is an actual, family-owned, crowded-aisled, musty, delightful, superbly-stocked place, complete with an eccentric/cantankerous/helpful staff. Plus they sell Filson clothes, the best work clothes in the world.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss
