Thanks for the education. That seems like a technique I might have use for in protected waters with a particular mud-friendly anchor I'm considering.

That pin does look a bit straight, but on the plus side that is a toggle, not the turnbuckle:

Yeah, but it's an all-stainless turnbuckle, and a bottle screw, to boot, so watch out for corrosion on that lower stud. And is that Sta-Lok screwed down all the way? And the footropes are way too elastic, and what is that knitting on the port spritsherd?
